How to diagnose stutter and microcuts in Nubo

A test sequence to separate Wi-Fi coverage, Mac workload, and streaming quality.

Establish a baseline

Start near the router with automatic quality and one session. Temporarily pause large downloads you control, then repeat the same action, such as scrolling a page with text and images.

Record quality, resolution, and connection statistics. Change one variable at a time. An internet speed test does not necessarily measure the local connection between your devices.

Compare network and quality

If possible, connect the Mac through Ethernet and repeat the test. This removes the Mac’s wireless hop, but the iPad still depends on Wi-Fi. If it improves, investigate coverage, interference, or congestion before blaming encoding.

Lower bitrate or resolution to check whether session demand exceeds stable network capacity. Do not force DFS channels, separate network names, or 80 MHz as a universal fix: follow Apple and router guidance.

What information helps

A drop in FPS is not always a fault: a static desktop can generate fewer updates than an animation. Evaluate continuous movement and watch for rising RTT, dropped frames, or encoding time.

If the problem persists, record Mac and iPad models, OS versions, resolution, connection type, and reproduction steps. Do not disable system interfaces or security permissions as a supposed performance fix.
